Duke of Edinburgh

Duke of Edinburgh
Beechlawn School have been offering Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award to students since 2015. This year the number of Bronze participants have increased to a staggering 21.
There are 4 sections to the Award;
1. Volunteering; where our 6th year students help run Beechlawns Award Winning Breakfast Club.
2. Skills; our young people take part in Grassroots Challenge learning to promote and protect our local wildlife. Some of the projects we take part in include; Bird watching and identification, making bird feeders, and nesting boxes
3. Physical; Pupils are inspired to achieve a greater physical fitness and healthy lifestyle through participation and improvement in physical activity.
4. Expedition; We plan, train for and complete an adventurous journey.
There are so many rewards for our young people who do the Duke of Edinburgh programme and achieve the award. Its balanced programme of activities develops the persons mind, body and soul, in an environment of social interaction and team work.
